This is a page of information and resources for clients regarding Tenseg’s hosting infrastructure, which is where all client websites must be hosted for Tenseg to be involved with them. This webpage will be updated with further details as they become relevant to clients.
Supplier Arrangements
Tenseg hosts websites on servers at Akamai that live in a data center in the southern half of the continental United States. We pair this with SpinupWP to make administration of the infrastructure more reliable. SpinupWP allows us to quickly bring up new WordPress websites. For simpler websites we also run a WordPress Multisite Network, which simplifies the maintenance of WordPress itself. What we charge you for the hosting ultimately goes to paying our suppliers and for our labor of running this service.
Server Status
We strive to keep our servers and your website up constantly, but we also know that this will not always be possible. We promise that when a website does go down, we will work as quickly as we can to get it back up. We will keep you informed when downtime occurs by updating our Server Status page. If your site isn’t accessible please check this page before contacting us, as we may already be aware of the problem. If there is no mention of the problem you are experiencing on that page, then please contact us ASAP.
Admin Bar Menu
All sites hosted by Tenseg include a Tenseg menu in the admin bar, represented by our logo. This menu provides several features:
- Ask for Help gives you a simple form to send us a question or report a problem.
- Caches is a submenu with controls for purging stored pages of your site from our web cache. Use this when a page you edited does not seem to be updated after you’ve made the changes.
- Hosting Help takes you to this page.
- Server Status gives you a quick link to the Server Status page for the server you are hosted on.
- Visit Tenseg LLC takes you to our homepage.
Security of Your Website
We take security very seriously. If you are interested in the details of what we do for the security of your website, we maintain a detailed summary of what we do to harden security. In addition to security specific to your website, we have a set of recommendations for online security that we recommend you follow for all online accounts that you have.
Backups
We have Akamai back up all our servers and also make separate backups of the websites to a computer in our office. Once a week we automatically scan those backups for malware. If the backups fail or malware is found we are alerted and will take action as soon as we can. We will be in touch if we need anything from you in cleaning up malware on your website. If you make a mistake on the website from which you cannot recover and want us to restore your website from a backup copy let us know. However, be aware that the our backups are made just nightly, so you’d lose all your work from earlier that day.
In addition to the backups that we make, we strongly urge you to keep your own backup of your website.
