Auto-start Internet Sharing

This is a plist that was quickly created when Alex needed to help someone find a way to automatically start OS X’s Internet Sharing feature at boot. Many of the hints he read online were outdated as they used StartupItems. So he wrote the below script to automate the task in more of the way that Leopard and above automatically start daemons (background applications).

System Requirements

  • Mac OS X 10.5 or higher
  • Intel or PowerPC Mac

Installation Instructions

Move the downloaded plist file to “/Library/LaunchDaemons” creating any folders that don’t already exist. The next time you reboot the Internet Sharing should automatically turn on.
